Attention All D7 Tau Bates
Whether you spent your summer vacationing, working, or somewhere in between, we hope it was enjoyable! With the school starting, it's time to start thinking about Tau Beta Pi and the upcoming activities for the year. We're formally inviting all Chapter Presidents/Voting Delegates in District Seven to our upcoming fall meetings that will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 10 a.m. at Curt's House in Ypsilanti for the Michigan schools, Ohio Zeta and Ohio Iota; Saturday, October 4 at 11 a.m. at Ohio University for the SW Ohio schools; and Saturday, October 11 at 10 a.m. for the at Case Western Reserve University for the NE Ohio schools. For those attending the Michigan meeting, we'll again be meeting at Curt's house. The purpose of this meeting is to help you prepare for this year's National Convention in Dearborn, Michigan as well as help you get ready for the upcoming semester. Although this is several weeks into the school year for most of you, we know that you will find it beneficial. The tentative agenda is:
| NE Ohio/MI | SW Ohio | Description |
| 9:30 a.m. | 10:30 a.m. | Breakfast Available |
| 10:00 a.m. | 11:00 a.m. | Introductions |
| 10:15 a.m. | 11:15 a.m. | Tau Beta Pi Operations
|
| 11:15 a.m. | 12:15 p.m. | The National Convention
|
| 12:00 p.m. | 1:00 p.m. | Question and Answer, Wrap-up |
| 12:15 p.m. | 1:15 p.m. | Lunch (provided by District 7) |
The meeting is specifically geared toward the Voting Delegate to the Convention (which is usually the Chapter President), anyone in charge of initiation, and corresponding secretaries. In District Seven, we always encourage additional active members to attend this meeting. We suggest that you bring anyone who may be attending Convention plus any officers in charge of your Initiation process. When you RSVP for the meeting, please let us know in advance how many extra members plan to attend.
You should have received your final set of instructions concerning Convention including information on your travel plans. This is very important - you should have already submitted your travel plans which WAS due August 26th. If you have not submitted it already, please try to submit it as soon as possible. You submit it electronically at http://www.tbp.org/tbpconv/. Also, if your chapter is sending multiple people, a travel plan should be submitted for each member planning to attend. (This can also be done via the web)
By the time of the fall meeting, you should have submitted or be in the process of submitting your Report of Eligibility to Headquarters. It is due within the first five weeks of the semester or quarter and Headquarters knows when each school starts. If you have any questions about any of the paperwork, please call Curt at 734.274.4522 or Headquarters at 1-800-TAU-BETA.
Any Chapter that has to drive more than two hours (primarily those attending the SW Ohio meeting) can ask to get a hotel room for Friday night. Curt has extra space at his house and will provide accommodations for anyone attending the Michigan meeting who would prefer to arrive Friday night. Dave will be working with the Chapters in SW Ohio who need a hotel room for Friday night.
Dress for the meeting is business casual leaning towards the casual side. Knit shirts, khakis, and jeans are fine. We will cover travel expenses of $.25 a mile for one car from each chapter. If that is a problem, let one of the District Directors know. We will have a light breakfast (bagels, donuts, juice, coffee) before the meeting starts and lunch (pizza or subs, soft drinks) at the end of the meetings.
Schools attending the meetings on October 4 should RSVP by September 28th and the schools attending the meeting on October 11 should RSVPby October 5. We ask you to RSVP via the web at www.tbp-d7.org/fall-meet/rsvp-form.php. Please use the web site, if possible, as it will make it easier for us for planning purposes. If you don't have access to the web, you are also welcome to RSVP by phone or e-mail. Directions and maps will be posted to the web site and distributed via e-mail towards the beginning of September. Final decisions on meeting rooms have not been made and that information will be included on the web and in e-mails as soon as it becomes available.
- Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 4th or Saturday, October 11th for the District Seven Fall Meetings.
- Submit your correctly completed travel plan if you have not already done so.
- File you report of eligibility within the first FIVE weeks of the semester/quarter.
- RSVP via the web your availability by September 28th or October 5.
